exists as a spherical colony of individual cells. Each cell has two whiplike appendages called
flagella
that propel the entire colony through water.

in pondwater were mounted between a slide and coverslip using a silicon spacer. The movie was taken on an compound inverted microscope using a 20x objective and digital camera.
